The Charm of Vintage Decor

Vintage decor has always been in vogue. It speaks of a time when things were simpler and is a great way to add character and personality to your home while keeping things fresh and exciting.

One of the best things about vintage decor is that it offers something for everyone. Whether you prefer rustic, farmhouse decor or the sleek lines of a mid-century modern design, there is something out there for everyone. We can’t go past mixing and matching new with old, vintage with modern. It’s a great way to make a space feel more like a home and bring an element of character to your interiors. One great way to uncover timeless treasures is to visit the thrift stores, antique stores, op shops and markets.

Once you have found some vintage pieces that you love, it's time to incorporate them into your home. One easy way to do this is to mix and match vintage and modern pieces (our favourite way to go!). Think, pairing a vintage sofa with a modern coffee table, or a rustic elm stool as a feature in a modern, luxe bathroom. There’s so many ways to incorporate vintage, antique decor into your home.

You can also focus on the smaller details - vintage doorknobs, a magnifying glass, vintage frames, light fixtures, and hardware can add a unique touch to your home without overwhelming the space. You can also go down the vintage textiles route and update some pieces like throw pillows, blankets, and curtains to add an extra layer of warmth and texture to a room.

One thing to not forget when incorporating vintage, is the kitchen! Somehow we’ve accumulated an absurd amount of gadgets and things we just don’t need (let’s be honest!). Kitchen pieces are one thing to never go past in an op shop or thrift store as you never know what you’ll find, and even so, they might translate to other rooms in your home as the season’s change.

Vintage decor is all about uncovering timeless treasures and incorporating them into your home in a way that feels fresh and exciting. However, sometimes we do need *new* pieces, like kitchen linens and bedding. Think tea towels and napkins - our favourites you ask, well... the Gingham Tea Towels and Gingham Napkins. They’re carefully crafted by hand in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, making each one a unique and special piece. Using organic cotton to ensure a soft and absorbent experience that is gentle on your guests and your dishes, these pieces are perfect for everyday use, bringing an element of vintage farmhouse to your table-scape.

So, whether you prefer a rustic farmhouse look or a sleek mid-century modern aesthetic, there is something out there for everyone. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different styles. By focusing on the smaller details, you can create a personalised, vintage look that is uniquely yours and uniquely charming.
